When purchasing a new home, it is essential to maintain it regularly. Consistent upkeep not only ensures the smooth operation of your household systems but also helps prevent potential issues in the future. Proactive maintenance today can lead to significant cost savings over time.
External Heat Pump & Cylinder
- Service once a year from the year of purchase.
- Joule or Glenveagh can provide a recommended contractors list.
- Please note if there is an issue with the systems between the 12-18 month period following moving in and you haven’t had the system serviced, we will not be able to attend without that service happening first.
Kitchen Extractor Fan and Hob
- Clean the filters every 9-12 months, using a dry cloth.
- If you need to replace filters, contact the kitchen contractor directly.
- Always turn on the extractor fan 5 minutes before cooking and leave it on for 5-10 after cooking.
- Keep lids on pots when cooking to minimise steam.
- Wipe induction hobs dry after use.
- Clean grills and ovens regularly. Grease build-up can affect how the extractor fan works.
- Make sure any hob you choose is compatible with the extractor fan Glenveagh has supplied.
- If you decide to use gas for cooking, you need to install a different fan.
- A gas cooker will produce a lot more excess and will also void your warranty, so if any issues do occur, Glenveagh will not be liable.
Smoke Alarms
- Check smoke alarms weekly to make sure they are working. You can do this by pressing the test button. If you cannot reach the test button, use the handle tip of a sweeping brush to press it.
- If you need to replace any of your smoke alarms, you can easily find them in hardware stores, supermarkets or general retailers.
Water Tank Pressure Vessel
- Check your homeowner guide for details on the water tank pressure vessel.
Back Gardens
- Please note that gardens require time to mature. Grass, shrubs, and other plantings may take several months to become fully established.
- It is essential to maintain your back garden regularly and to be considerate of your neighbours. Please keep bushes and trees trimmed to ensure that adequate natural light continues to reach both your property and adjacent gardens.
- As part of the overall garden design, Glenveagh does not carry out garden levelling. A one-foot fall is permitted on each side in accordance with specifications.
- Be aware that heavy rainfall may impact the condition of a newly planted garden.
- For detailed information on how to maintain your garden, please refer to your Homeowner Guide.
Solar Panels
- Solar Panels may be installed on your roof. The number of panels decided is based on orientation of your home, BER requirements and the output of the area.
- There is a control panel on the fuse board to show you how much is being generated every day. When signing up with an electrical provider, please notify them you have solar panels and enquire about their tariffs.
