Hot Water System Troubleshooting

Your boiler/hot water cylinder contains enough hot water to give you two 5-7 minute showers back-to-back, or the equivalent of a hot bath. Following this, you will need to wait for 20-25 minutes for the water to heat up again before you’ll have more hot water.

If you are experiencing hot water issues in your home, please check the following:

  • On the screen on the front of your boiler, is the DHW (Domestic Hot Water) on the right of the screen turned on? If it is turned off, please highlight it using the arrow keys and press the power button. It should always show the temperature of the water (standard commissioning temperature is 48 degrees, which may fluctuate slightly throughout the day depending on usage).
  • On the screen on the front of your boiler, what temperature is your DHW set to? We recommend 48 degrees. If it is below this, highlight it using the arrow keys, press the enter button, and use the up and down arrows to set the temperature to 48 degrees.
  • Is your hot water valve (the red lever on your boiler) turned on? The on position is usually vertical.
  • Is your boiler/hot water cylinder receiving power? If it does not seem to be receiving power, please check on your fuse board that the relevant switch is turned on.
  • Is your external heat pump turned on? Please make sure that the isolator switch next to the heat pump has not been turned off.
  • Have you used up all the hot water in your cylinder? If so, you must wait a while for the water to reheat.

If you’ve tried all the above and you are still having problems with your hot water, please log a ticket with us and will help you as soon as possible.

If your thermostat or boiler screen is showing an error code, please log a ticket with us.
